Your Guide to Poolside Bliss at the Farmhouse
Our pool has been here as long as the farmhouse.. It isn’t a glossy resort-style pool.  It has character, the kind that makes guests fall in love with this place. You step outside and see mature lemon and olive trees surrounding you, bougainvillea tumbling down in purple blooms, and the water catching the sky in just the right way. Many of our friends say the scene reminds them of the Mediterranean. The pool catches the sky and horizon so perfectly it feels like you're looking out over the sea.
The pool naturally drives everyone in. The three-foot diving board is where many kids have learned to dive, cheered on by happy parents snapping photos from the pergola. Kids can spend entire afternoons plunging to the bottom to rescue pool toys, while parents lounge in the shade catching up each others. The shallow end is wide and gentle, with big steps perfect for toddlers to splash around on. Adults LOVE the 9FT deep end! ..swimming laps, cooling off after a long hike, or just letting themselves float until the sun sets.
You could spend the whole day out here and never get bored. Two pergolas offer plenty of shade, with seating that can be shuffled around to fit your group. My kids have spent hours on the patio swing chatting with friends and lying back to watch the sky change color. More than once I’ve fallen asleep there myself after a long swim, it's the kind of nap that only comes when you’re completely content.
Mornings are my personal favorite. Before the kids tumble out of bed, I love to slip into a robe, make myself a strong coffee, and step out under the pergola. The air is cool, birds are singing, and the bougainvillea overhead makes everything look romantic and just a little cinematic. Guests tell me it’s their favorite time for photos.Bbring a tripod if you want to capture those moments together without having to rush. Breakfast by the pool is another ritual here: whip up something simple in the kitchen, then take it outside to enjoy under the dining pergola. Families always tell me those poolside breakfasts end up being some of their sweetest memories.
Evenings carry their own magic. When the sun dips, the heat softens and the pool becomes a mirror for the sky. Photographers will love it,  the reflections are incredible. Guests often linger here long after dinner, soaking up the peace. Some order in, others book our private chef to do tacos by the pool, and if you’re celebrating a special occasion, we can even arrange balloons or a party setup. Guests who’ve stayed in late summer, when wildfire smoke sometimes keeps people from heading into the parks, have told me the pool saved their trip. It became their retreat, their playground and their sanctuary, all in one.
And when you’ve finally had your fill of swimming, the garden is just steps away. Depending on the season, you might find tomatoes, peppers, herbs, cucumber or even carrots. Watching a kid find a carrot peeking from the soil is a joy that never gets old. Everything here is organic and seasonal. Nature decides what’s ready and when. I’ve seen guests gather herbs for grilling, kids racing to identify vegetables, and families sharing a barbecue that tastes like summer. Guests who want to go beyond the pool can request a garden walk, where you might harvest herbs & veggies for grilling or let the kids explore what’s in season.
The farmhouse pool is a part of the soul of this property. It’s where kids grow braver, where parents can relax where couples find moments of connection, and where friends often seem to lose track of time. Old, yes. Rustic, absolutely. But also timeless, charming, expansive and ready to make you feel like you’ve traveled thousands of miles away without ever going that far.
